DJ Cooper
The bestselling author of post-apocalyptic and disaster fiction. Captivating readers since 2014.
With a collection of published novels and a growing community of devoted fans, DJ Cooper has established herself as a strong voice in apocalyptic fiction.
DJ lives in Biddeford, Maine, where she enjoys frequent beach adventures with her grandchildren and writing time shared with her Maine Coon cat, whom she is pretty sure is a demon in disguise. Cooper’s writing journey to authorship began during downtime from trucking, when she finally dared to write the post-apocalyptic story that was dancing in her mind on that September day. What started as a simple exercise in storytelling quickly became her calling. After raising her children and working various jobs—from accounting by day and delivering newspapers to driving limousines—she discovered that her true passion lay in crafting tales of survival, resilience, and humanity’s fight for hope.
This apocalyptic author does more than write…
Beyond writing novels, DJ serves as an editor and mentor to fellow authors at Angry Eagle Publishing, LLC. After facing uphill battles and hard lessons on what not to do, she had to learn the industry and craft the hard way. Now she hopes to pay it forward and help others navigate the world of books a little easier.
She also creates book covers in all genres with Dauntless Cover Design and works as a freelance editor and book coach. She writes nonfiction preparedness content and event production for Thrive Self-Reliance Initiative. This apocalyptic author’s entrepreneurial spirit drives her within the publishing world.
Her educational background strengthens her craft and business acumen. DJ holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Marketing and is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a concentration in teaching. This academic foundation supports her multifaceted career within the publishing industry.
DJ’s literary influences in apocalyptic and dystopian fiction include The Road, Alas Babylon, One Second After, and The Hunger Games. Her upcoming 2025 project, “Age of Fire & Ash”—developed through backstory and setup for her MFA thesis—promises to be her most ambitious work yet, following survivors of WWIII through multiple ages of a transformed world.
Her advice to aspiring writers remains simple:
“Dare to live that dream.”
